 +This paper presents anisotropic diffusion, i.e. smoothing an image using a Gaussian kernel (diffusion) that varies for every pixel of the image (anisotropy). The idea is to smooth the image preserving the edges; the size of the Gaussian kernel depends on the gradient: when the gradient is large (edge) the Gaussian kernel will be small and when the gradient is small (plain area) the kernel will be large. The result is that the smoothing process doesn't cross the different areas.
